应该是十多年前，我们开始看到混合动力汽车，部分汽油驱动，部分电力驱动。借助“hybrid”标志，很容易地识别这些车。

最近我的一位同事买了一台特斯拉（S型）纯电力轿车 - 完全靠电力驱动，不使用汽油。特斯拉的纯电力汽车已经在市场上了，其他厂商哪？谷歌搜索显示，还有几家汽车制造商也有纯电力汽车。不过单从外观型号，我是看不出，哪台是纯电力，哪台不是纯电力。我一直认为纯电力车还没有大众化。

有一天，外出吃午餐，在一个小商业区，我看到这个：

真的令人惊讶。莫非，我已经落伍，纯电力轿车已经普及？亦或，这个小小的商业区业主有着大大的远见卓识？

特斯拉S型分为多种档次的型号，最高檔次型號內置85kWh鋰離子電池组。经美國國家環境保護局（EPA）評定高性能型特斯拉S型单次充電可以行走265英里（426公里），超越同厂产品Tesla Roadster成为目前市面上续航距離最遠的純電動車[6][7][8]。

基礎型的特斯拉S型70D可以巡航442公里，且由0加速到100km/h僅需5.4秒。[12]

性能款的P85D擁有691hp綜效馬力，可以巡航480公里，且0-100km/h僅需驚人的3.3秒。

A little bit of more ten years ago, we started to see hybrid cars, half-driven by gas and half-driven by electricity. You can easily identify these cars by the sign of "hybrid".

Recently, one of my co-workers bought an all-electric-car from Tesla (Model S) - all driven by electricity, no any gasoline. By it, I know that Tesla is an all-electric car on the market, on the roads, and not any other makers.

Googling shows, actually, there are several other car makers also having all electric cars on the run. However, I don't know any clue to pin-point out any such cars whether all-electricity or not. I simply assume that there are not a lot of such modern cars on the road.

One day, while eating out during an lunch time, in a small plaza, I saw this:

What would you think, when surprisingly seeing these? My thinking is, either there are a lots of such all electric cars being on the roads already or this plaza landlord is really a foresighted businessman.

Call to switchboard, directly connect to the extension

As many of you, I have a few contacts, whose phone number coming with extension numbers. For example, one of them is 987-654-3218 EXT 898.

How do you save such kind of contact numbers onto your smartphone?

Here is what I did:

(1) putting switchboard number, 987-654-3218, in the normal 'phone' spot.
(2) putting the extension number, 898, at the end of the contact's name.

Each time, before I make a call, I first memorize the extension number 898. Then press the "dial" button. After connected, listening to an out-going message, and then key in 898.

Are you doing the same, as I did?

A few days ago, a beautiful lady sent an email telling me her business phone number, with extension, and also told me a quick and easy way to save it in my smartphone.

Squeezing the switchboard number and extension number all together, separated by a comma, into the 'phone' spot.

Using my above example, it is now changed to:

That's it. One key stroke, get you connected.

Try it. Guarantee you loving it!

PS：This comma instructs a "pause" command. It is said, that this 'function' comes with phones in a very earlier day. You may go back to check its history out, which may leads to a piece of romance， which was triggered by a phone and this 'pause' :-). You never know.

我有位朋友，他的办公室号码是 987-654-3218 转分机 898。这样的号码怎样放在手机里哪？

以前我是这样处理的：

（1）把 987-654-3218 放到通常的号码位置。
（2）把分机号码 898 放在人名后面。

使用时，
1）按"拨打"键之前，在脑子里先记住分机号码 898；
2）按"拨打"键。接通后，听一段套话，然后，按 898。

你是不是也是这样做的？是？和我一样，孤陋寡闻了 :-))

前日，一位漂亮女士告诉我一个简单快捷的方法：

直接输入总机号和分机号在一起，但两者用逗号分开。

试一下，包你一键搞定！

后记：这个逗号代表“暂停/稍顿”。据说，这一功能与电话同样“古老”。有兴趣有时间的亲们可去考证（没准还能钓出一段浪漫故事。You never know :-)。

小蚂蚁吃西瓜

大约在6岁或7岁（小学1年级或2年级），读过一本图画书。从小到大，它都在影响着我。

我曾尝试多次在网上搜索，希望能找到它，但没找到。

下面是我对这本图画书故事的大致记忆：

一个炎热的夏天，一位蚂蚁妈妈和她的孩子，小蚂蚁，走在一片西瓜地里。走啊走啊，小蚂蚁感到越来越渴。蚂蚁妈妈指着一个大西瓜，说，你看，这是西瓜。西瓜水灵灵的，又解渴，又好吃。甜甜的。你去吃吧，我在树荫下休息一会儿。

小蚂蚁爬上西瓜，走了一圈又一圈，咬一口又一口。好硬啊，差点咬坏了牙齿。什么味道都没有！就这样，不停地走啊走啊，一小时后，小蚂蚁气馁地停了下来。

他叫醒了妈妈，颓丧地说，对不起妈妈，把你叫醒了。可是，这西瓜硬硬滑滑的，即不水灵也不甜，什么味道都没有。

当知道儿子怎样做的后，蚂蚁妈妈说，亲爱的，来，咱们就在西瓜这一个点上挖下去，持续不懈地挖。

费了好大的功夫，他们终于挖过绿色硬壳。越挖越深，又过好长时间，他们又挖过了西瓜的白皮层。这时，一股红色的甜汁流溅到他们的脸上。有生以来，这是小蚂蚁尝到的世界上最美味的水果。

只要我们守住一个目标，持续不懈地努力，终将会获得甜美的结果。

用豆芽机, 发豆芽

几天前，亲亲送给我们一个礼物：一台中国豆芽机。对，豆芽机!!!

有了豆芽机，家产豆芽，简单多了，也摩登专业了。

按照说明进行操作：

放入绿豆（黄豆也可以）。大约78小时（3+天）完成生长周期。

这是进行到一半时：

收获了。。。

机器操作实在简单，就不多说了。

不过还得提醒一下，豆芽机用220伏电压，不要忘了买变压器，从110伏到220伏。功率足够大。

还有，我们愿借此机会再次感谢我们的亲亲，送来的这份温馨的礼物 :-))

补记：餐桌上，朋友询问，一时没有豆芽机咋办？莫急。在有豆芽机之前，可参考这个办法[不用豆芽机, 也能发豆芽!]

Grow bean sprouts, by using a bean sprout machine

这里是中文译本。

A few day's ago, one of our relative families gave us a gift of a bean sprout machine, from China, yes, a bean sprout machines!!!

With the machine, self-producing bean sprouts becomes a lots of simpler and professional.

Follow the instruction:

Place green beans (It also takes soy beans). The machine will take 78 hours (3+ days) to complete the growth cycle.

Here is the status in the halfway:

Harvest ...

The machine-operation is too simple to say even one more word.

Oh, just a second, I have to say one more word. don't forget the transformer. The bean sprouts machine is operated at 220 volts. Depending on your country, you might need one, from 110 volts to 220 volts, with enough watts power.

Surely, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank, once again, this relative family for their heart-warming gift :-))

PS: Some of our friends have questioned us, are you saying that we cannot have delicious bean sprouts dishes on our dining table? No, we never meant that. Here is a way to [grow bean sprouts without using a bean sprouts machine]. You can try this, before you have a bean sprouts machine.
