Light Show on the Parliament Hill

这里是中文译本

We were planning to visit Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, and the surrounding area during the day time. However, we were running quite late, and by the time we actually arrived, it was already 8:00 pm.

When we got to Parliament Hill, we noticed that there was a large crowd, which hinted that there might be some kind of special event would happen.

Yes, that is the Light Show.

What? What was the Light Show? Never heard of it.

Oh, it is a movie, projected on to Parliament Hill, with many projectors.

This official web site says: "Northern Lights is a free bilingual show presented nightly from July 10 to September 12, 2015. Show times: in July at 10:00 p.m., in August at 9:30 p.m., and in September at 9:00 p.m.". It is about 30 minutes long.

You can see a preview in this video.

We parked at the World Exchange Plaza under ground parking lot. It is $5 from 6:00 pm to mid-night. We exited from the eastern entrance, walked along Metcalfe Street, to the Hill.

After the event finished, we walked back, and discovered that the eastern entrance was locked. Following the crowd, we tried the south entrance, which was locked as well. Continuing along the building, turned around the corner on the west side, and there was a barely noticeable 'tiny' door with a sign saying, 24 hours access to the under ground parking.

As many cars were trying to exit at the same time, it took us about 30 minutes to escape from the parking lot.

We noticed afterwards that parking along Metcalfe Street might be free. I guess you have to bet on your luck to find a spot.
